Manduka has quietly retired the GRP. Everyone is still comparing against it.

While building the catalogue we went looking for the Manduka GRP, the 6 mm grip mat that shows up constantly in comparison searches. Manduka's own mat collection does not list it.

What it lists instead is the GRP Adapt at 5 mm, the GRP Adapt Lite at 4 mm, and a GRP Adapt Travel at 1.5 mm. The plain GRP is not among them.

Why this matters if you are shopping

Every "Manduka PRO vs GRP" article written before the change is now describing a mat you cannot buy new from the maker. The specs in those articles — 6 mm, a particular surface — do not describe the GRP Adapt, which is 5 mm and built with a different top layer. Retailers still hold stock of the old model, so the name has not disappeared from shops, and the comparison quietly stops being about the same product.

This is the ordinary way product information rots. Nothing was announced, nothing was corrected, and the articles stayed online with their original dates.

What we did

Rather than build a page for a mat that no longer exists, we point demand for "Manduka GRP" at the model that replaced it, and the GRP Adapt page states its real specs: 5 mm, 5.8 lb, made in Spain, polyurethane over natural rubber.

We could have kept a GRP page. It would have collected searches. It would also have described a product nobody can buy, using numbers we could no longer verify against the maker — which is the definition of the stale content we built this site to avoid.
